JHL8540, code-named Maple Ridge, is the first standalone Thunderbolt™ 4 controller chip launched by Intel. It enables non-Intel platforms (such as AMD) to support Thunderbolt 4 functionality.
This chip connects to the host via a PCIe 3.0 x4 channel, and requires the full bandwidth to be certified. It provides 2 Thunderbolt 4 interfaces (in USB-C form) externally, supporting a maximum data transfer rate of 40Gbps, is compatible with USB4 and DisplayPort 1.4a protocols, supports dual 4K or single 8K video output, and has a maximum power supply capacity of 100W.
